Six Grain Cereal

  • 1 cup Hadley’s Six Grain cereal
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt (optional)

Place water and salt in a pot and bring to a boil. Add Hadley’s Six Grain Cereal. Stir and reduce heat to lowest setting. Leave on stove uncovered for 5 to 10 minutes or until all water has been absorbed. You can add milk, brown sugar, bananas or nuts to make a great breakfast even better. Makes 2 servings.

Oatmeal Date Squares

  • 1 3/4 cup Hadley’s Rolled Oats
  • 1 1/2 all purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup butter

Mix dry ingredients and work in butter thoroughly. Pack Half of mixture in bottom of greased 8x8x2-inch pan. Cover with date filling.

Date Filling:

Boil dates, sugar, salt and water until thick. Remove and cool. Add lemon juice and walnuts. Add remaining crumb mixture, pressing down well. Bake at 375 degrees about 40 minutes. Cut in squares. Makes about 16 squares.
